Miller Projects
Habitat One is all about helping landowners get quality habitat on the ground, one acre at a time. Why is creating habitat for wildlife important? Creating wildlife habitat supports biodiversity and allows for several species to thrive in an ecosystem.
Habitat One recently helped its first landowner get habitat on the ground through 3 separate projects in Jones County, SD: A milo food plot, tree rows, and a grass seeding project.
These acres did not qualify for the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP), does that mean that they are any less important for habitat? Absolutely not!
Habitat One is unique in the fact that we do not have set in stone programs or requirements so it creates flexibility to fund projects that other programs can’t or are unable to fund.

Habitat One sees the importance behind each and every acre and capitalizes on it. Those stubborn acres that you can’t get crops to grow on could be a perfect spot for wildlife habitat. Want to put out food plots, grass, or trees, but don’t have the funds to do so? Habitat One has you covered!
Each project has its own benefit to different wildlife species but it really revolves around creating essential habitat, providing food, and providing shelter for wildlife species such as pheasants, grouse, deer, etc.
According to Mr. Miller, “We were able to build habitat in an area that did not qualify for CRP. We can take wet areas and areas that you can’t put corn on and turn it into habitat for wildlife, rather than placing habitat in areas that are income producing acres.” The Miller Farm has a heart for conserving and creating lasting habitat that will allow wildlife to flourish on their land. These projects will help them provide quality habitat to numerous species and aid in increasing populations in the area.
Our nations wildlife enjoys new habitat wherever we build it, they don’t know if it’s public or private ground, they just know it’s more for them to enjoy, wherever it’s built.
